Spring Bouquet Completed!

Well except for the label which I will do tomorrow.

I finished it yesterday but forgot to have hubby take pictures. I am not tall enough to get good pictures so he does them for me.

Here they are. We are taking her to supper Saturday night for her birthday and I can't wait to see her face as she has no idea I am making it for her.

Here are the pictures.

Block 4 Quilted!

I have 4 blocks quilted and one border quilted. I am moving lol. Hopefully today I can do one block and the border that is next to it as I have errands I have to run out to do. Traffic is sooo heavy arounder here this time of year. We live right by the main mall here so it is crazy to go any where.

Design Wall Monday 11/19/12

These are the six finished blocks for Spring Bouquet. I am almost finished appliquing block seven. Only two left! I am really hoping by Wednesday morning to be ready to start quilting on this but I am doubting that will happen as I have to prepare the house for company also. Oh well. My goal is to try and have this quilt finished in time for Christmas or New Years. That should be doable.

Sorry about the quality of the picture but I am still on my first cup of coffee lol.

To see what others are working on go over to Patchwork Times

Slow Stitching Sunday

Hi, if you have linked here from Kathy's Quilts welcome! (If someone can tell me how to make that show the name of her blog but show her link I would be so appreciative! thanks). Here is what I will be working on today off and on. It is one of the blocks for the Spring Bouquet quilt. This is block number 5 of 9 so I am getting there. The hard part will be deciding on sashing fabric as I have used only stash fabric.

Edited: thanks for the help! I finally know how to do it!

Spring Bouquet Update

I now have all the blocks prepped for this top. I am leaving on October 31st to go to Houston for the Quilt Show. I stay at a dear sweet friend's (Hi Janeice!) house. I bring lots of hand work to do at night, or if just decide to stay home for the day. Two of the blocks are already stitched and in a previous post. These are all glued down ready to hand applique. Makes things VERY portable.

Here are the blocks that I will be taking with me:

Sneak Peek!

Here is a sneak peek of blocks 3 and 4 of the spring bouquet. As you can see, they are not appliqued down yet, but they are glued in place. Kaci (our youngest daughter) came over a few days ago and picked out fabrics for some of the blocks. I love when I have help in that step. I knew the color families I wanted in each area, but since this is gonna be all stash except for sashing, borders and backing, I was not having fun picking exact fabrics. I really like the fabrics she picked but have changed one here and there. For the most part though she picked all of them. Didn't she do a good job? There are 5 more blocks to prep. I am doing all the prep work now so I will have lots to hand applique while I stay a few days with my Houston friend during the quilt show.

Edit: Since I lost all of the pictures on here I have the unsewn blocks in a later post. For that reason I am not replacing the block pictures here.

Spring Bouquet

Spring Bouquet is a pattern I picked up at the Houston show a couple or so years ago. Really wanted to finish the Baltimore Blue top before starting it. Now that the Balitmore Blue is on the frame I can start this applique project. I am trying really really hard to use up stash. I have enough white on white and off whites to use as the 9 backgrounds for the applique. I will pull as much for the flowers etc from stash as I possibly can. when it comes time for sashing, borders, etc I will go shopping as I doubt I have anything in enough quantity that will match. But for now the stash will go down a little.

Here is the first block glued down. All that has been sewn is the red center and the yellowy orange under the red. Everything else is just glued in place. It has nice big pieces so far. Nice change from the Baltimore Blue.

I am also sorta kinda maybe (lol) thinking about doing some diamonds by hand piecing. I bought the book Quilted Diamonds 2 by Linda Franz many moons ago. It has the 2 hour dvd. I have considered working on that to use up some stash too. I will watch the dvd (assuming I can find where I placed it lol) again and decide. Ok, here is the block!

Can I finally bring myself to do it?

You are probably thinking do what? And you are probably coming up with all sorts of ideas lol. Here is my problem. I have 21 yards of Ricky Tims hand dyed fabrics. I have had some of them for about 4 years. I haven't been able to cut into them so far. They are just to special lol. Just as he is. Here is the pattern I would like to use them in ( I think lol).

The Baltimore Blue applique is coming along nicely and I may finish most or all of that this weekend. I really need to get something else ready. I may spend some of the time preparing for this next quilt. Wish me luck and leave me encouragement to cut into this fabric finally. How do you do it when you just think the fabric is to pretty and special to use? Any hints will be greatly appreciated.
