My son's dog had to be put to sleep this morning. She was 14 years old. He has had her since she was born. He had her since he was 8 years old. They grew up together. She will be very missed.

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas everyone. Ham is in the oven, hubby is about to make pancakes on the electric griddle someone from work gave him for Christmas. The weather is nasty. Rainy and dark. But that is not gonna dampen my Christmas spirit. I plan on a nice relaxing, peaceful day. I may even sew or knit a little. Hope today is all you want it to be and more.
Please remember the true reason for the season as you celebrate with family and friends today.

Fabric Scraps?
If you like small (and some very small) pieces of scraps to make leaders/enders or whatever and would like the scraps I am keeping of the Ricky Tims hand dyes that I am using in the Dear Hannah quilt, leave me a comment telling me you are interested. I will ship them off to you when I have a full container. If more then one is interested, when the container fills up again I will ship it off to the next person. Most of the scraps will be hand dyes but I am using a muslin background and there may be some scraps of that too. Some of the pieces may be to small to do anything with, but I don't want to toss something you might be able to use, so am keeping all scraps. So you may have to go through them and throw out the smallest pieces. Most are hopefully big enough you can make something out of .

Redo of the redo would be a better name lol.
I decided this morning I wanted to change the leaf on A1 to look like a bud cause that what it reminded me of. And I just still didn't like A2 so I am completely redoing the fabrics other then the background. Here is what they will look like eventually. Hopefully lol.
I like them better. What do you think?

A2 Revisited
I really wasn't happy how A2 had turned out doing it all by hand piecing. So tonight I redid it using hand piecing and hand applique. I am much happier with how this one turned out.

Baby Hat
Taking a short break from hand quilting and hand piecing to knit a hat for the little guy who is on the way next year.
It is so tiny. I am used to making big boy hats and adult hats lol.

Two (or in this case three) Birds with one stone
I started a new hand applique and hand piecing project yesterday. Finished the first block today. Have second block prepped but not started.
I am doing the Dear Hannah (did the Dear Jane a few years ago). Here is block A1. I finally cut into some Ricky Tims fabric for this block. I will use alot (maybe all) of his hand dyes in this quilt other then the background. We will see as I go along. But it was amazing to needle turn!

Spring Bouquet Completed!
Well except for the label which I will do tomorrow.
I finished it yesterday but forgot to have hubby take pictures. I am not tall enough to get good pictures so he does them for me.
Here they are. We are taking her to supper Saturday night for her birthday and I can't wait to see her face as she has no idea I am making it for her.
Here are the pictures.

Woohoo!!!!
Only shopping I did today was to be at Joann's when they opened at six. I got the serger, thread cabinet, two battings for price of one, 8 spools of serger thread for price of 4, and a bolt of bleached muslin for 60% off. Then at the register she allowed me to use the 60 off and a 25 % off total including sale items!! Now to watch video and learn to use the serger lol.

Happy Thanksgiving!
I am up early and already have cornbread baking and the giblets simmering for the oyster and cornbread dressing. Still have to make a sugar free pea picking cake, sweet potato casserole, hubby is frying a turkey in his new Christmas gift, an oil less turkey fryer. He and I always give each other out gifts for thanksgiving lol. Tomorrow I am headed to Joann's to get a serger and one of the cases full of gutterman thread. Will take pictures if I am able to score both tomorrow.
Ok, off to finish up the things we are cooking here and carrying to daughters. We get there early cause there is plenty to help with there too.
Have an incredible blessed day today.

Cleaned up the sewing room!
Well as much as it will be cleaned before Wednesday lol. Now I can start fresh in there on Saturday or Sunday after company leaves and make a mess again. lol
Design Wall Monday 11/19/12
These are the six finished blocks for Spring Bouquet. I am almost finished appliquing block seven. Only two left! I am really hoping by Wednesday morning to be ready to start quilting on this but I am doubting that will happen as I have to prepare the house for company also. Oh well. My goal is to try and have this quilt finished in time for Christmas or New Years. That should be doable.
Sorry about the quality of the picture but I am still on my first cup of coffee lol.

Slow Stitching Sunday
Subtitle: How do you know when it is time to reorganize sewing room?
Answer: When you have to clean off a space to take a picture of your applique block for this post lol.
It is on the list of things to do this week, as we will have company sleeping on air mattress in there from Wednesday till Saturday. But I have been putting it off to get this top finished and ready for hand quilting before then. Maybe today? If/when I get to it I will try and post after pictures. Maybe before if I remember to take pictures before.
Here is the block I will finish appliquing today.

Slow Stitching Sunday
Hi, if you have linked here from Kathy's Quilts welcome! (If someone can tell me how to make that show the name of her blog but show her link I would be so appreciative! thanks). Here is what I will be working on today off and on. It is one of the blocks for the Spring Bouquet quilt. This is block number 5 of 9 so I am getting there. The hard part will be deciding on sashing fabric as I have used only stash fabric.
Edited: thanks for the help! I finally know how to do it!

Maybe?
I *think* I have things working again. I hope so. I will post a few pictures every day from the ones I took at the quilt show. Ended up only going one day so I didn't get alot of pictures.
Here are a few.
This is my youngest daughter and I with Ricky and Justin. I always have to get a picture with them lol. Justin is my friend Janeice's brother. She is so gracious to allow us to stay at her home when we come to the show. This was Kaci's first show and I think she had fun.
This was the quilt Ricky entered in the show. He took first prize in his category. I posted a link about it in a previous post.
Will post more tomorrow.

Sigh
I messed up something with my phone while in Houston and lost all my blog pictures. Will retake the ones I can and readd them. Also I have alot of pictures from Houston but need to figure out what happened before posting them (or trying to anyway).
I am home but just barely and exhausted so will try to figure it out tomorrow or later tonight.

Ricky Won!!
Ricky Tims entered this quilt in inovative piecing category. He won first place. He is so gracious to allow me to share a picture with all of you. There is a poem quilted into the quilt that he wrote. The poem is on his website www.rickytims.com.

Headed to Houston Tomorrow!!
I am leaving here soon to finish up the errands so I can leave early in the morning. I hope to be on the road by 8:30. That will mostly depend on pregnant daughter coming with me though lol.
I will try and post in the evenings while there. I have an amazing friend who leaves near Houston and she is so gracious to allow me to crash at her house for the show.
I can't wait to see Ricky Tims and Justin Shults. Justin is my friends brother and if you have met them you know they are fun, and so amazing. I always get pictures with them and will post one I am sure.
I will try and take some decent pictures with my phone of quilts and post. Ricky has won an award for a quilt he entered but as of yesterday he didn't know what award. Can't wait to see his winning quilt.
So if I am absent a few days (I return home sometime Sunday) you will know I am off having a mini vacation.
Stay safe and have fun quilting!

Spring Bouquet Update
I now have all the blocks prepped for this top. I am leaving on October 31st to go to Houston for the Quilt Show. I stay at a dear sweet friend's (Hi Janeice!) house. I bring lots of hand work to do at night, or if just decide to stay home for the day. Two of the blocks are already stitched and in a previous post. These are all glued down ready to hand applique. Makes things VERY portable.
Here are the blocks that I will be taking with me:
