Step 2!

Here is step two ready to go!

Double Irish Chain for Stephen

Stephen is our oldest grandson. He will be 15 in August. He has been needing a new quilt for awhile since he is now 6 feet tall and hasn't gotten a new one since he was about 8. He loves the Saints football team, and he also loves playing the saxophone. So the front will be these fabrics and the back will be some type of saints related fabrics. I am finally able to spend some time working on it so hopefully it will be ready for Christmas. I would love to give it to him for his birthday but that is the beginning of August and I want to hand quilt this one.

Finally?

At least for the next few days life seems to be slowing down enough that I actually made it into the sewing room this weekend to cut some fabric!

My friend in Texas had surgery and I spent a few days there caring for her. Came home, got things sorta in the neighborhood of normal again and a friend here had surgery. So I spent a few nights at the hospital caring for her. We are waiting to hear if they will have to go back in and remove a screw that is loose in her back. If so I may be at the hospital again for a few nights if her daughter can't make it in from Tennessee. Now my friend from Texas' mother is in the hospital. Enough already!

Anyway here is the beginnings of my oldest grandson's Christmas present. No fear of him reading my quilting blog and his mom knows about it already lol.

He is a huge Saints fan so I chose those colors and the music fabric is because he plays the saxophone and has since he was in 5th grade.

The Birthday Surprise Quilt

Well it was sorta kinda finished in time lol. I finished all the major quilting. It is bound and the label is on. I gave it to him at the surprise party last night. However, there are a few small blocks that still need echo quilting scattered over the quilt. It is blocks I missed when arranging the hoop for the quilting. I will work on it here and there till it is finished. I could leave it as is, there is plenty enough quilting, but with me being slightly (LOL) OCD I just can't stand knowing there will forever be some not quilted while the rest are.

Here are a couple few pictures.

Will I make it?

Maybe? I am a little over half finished quilting the borders. His birthday is Wednesday. He is fishing today so I am about to stitch on it a little before church and will do more once I am home and until he gets back. Wish me luck! I will still have the binding lol.

I had a light bulb moment!

Edited: I just noticed I had the quilt upside down the fish is upside down lol. It is supposed to be a redfish.

It hit me last night. Hubby has a new computer. So I went looking through his bookmarks and he hasn't had me bookmark the blog yet! So here is a few pictures of where I stand on the quilt. Sorry the pictures are terrible but he is my picture taker lol. I did the best I can with my phone.

Update

I am about 1/3 finished with the hand quilting on the surprise quilt. I did a little quilting the other night on the Baltimore blue. I have a couple more inches on the sock. I printed out some more block patterns for the Dear Hannah this morning.  It is really hard when I want to be working on the Irish Chain and have to find things to work on while he is home lol. Oh well he goes back to work Monday morning lol.

Here is a picture of the sock.
